1 of 604 made ‘95 or ‘96 VR-4 Spyder. When new these were a whopping $20k more than the already expensive for its day coupe. At the time it was the only hardtop convertible on sale in the US until the arrival of the MB SLK in 1997. Though the wheels aren’t original, t his one appears to have been very well cared for over the last 20+ years.

I saw a hard top VR-4 the other day, red of coarse. It was being driven very conservatively . It is amazing that these things are still going but considering this car cost close to 50k in 1995, that is a ton of $$$ to let fall to disrepair .

You do see plenty of similarly   high dollar coupes in from that era in rough stages or in junkyards ... 8-Series, SL, SC400 , C4, Boxster etc. Many got sold after 3-5 years for half of their original price and then on again and were picked up in the mid 00’s for a couple thousand buck  by people who couldn’t afford the high repair costs and let them rot.

Mitsubishi was an odd duck during that time. They had some amazing performance stuff but they have steadily lost that. And I never really equated DSM with reliability
